Birthday bouquet for mum. December 27, 2006
Posted by geets in hand bouquets.add a comment
My mum likes lillies so decided to make a simple lilly bouquet for her birthday, something that is not too heavy at the top like the ones that we usually find. Came up with this creation, a bit light and has a summery feel. ( Yes, it’s right about sunny all the time here in Singapore, except for now, when it’s raining cats and dogs, but you know what I mean. Lol. )
Didn’t really stick to a colour theme, just wanted it to be a bright bouquet. Used pink gerberas, white and pink tiger lillies, yellow roses as well as peach coloured ones. Wrapped in contrasting lavender coloured paper, toppped with a gold ribbon. Sweet.
Till then, smelling the roses.
A quick update on the SGF 2006 December 26, 2006

Hopped over to the expo to have a quick look around during the Singapore Garden Festival. We went on Friday and some of the flowers in the many different arrangements were already wilting. A splendid display of creativeness and nimble fingers, nonetheless. Wish I could post pictures, gotta wait till I upload them. Found a few suppliers for baskets and vases, so it was a good trip ( and well spent $12 !!! ) Got to see the competition entries and was amazed by the creations of the primary school kids! We were speculating if parents or teachers helped them out, especially the ones created by 7 year olds! Beautiful still, and wished I had started this earlier. Wonder if my mum would have entertained me had I said that I wanted to be a florist. Lol.
Till then, smelling the roses.

One of my really good friends got married recently and wanted a cascading bouquet for her wedding reception. She had requested lillies and told me the colours of her 2 wedding gowns. I came up with this creation.
My first ever cascading bouquet and it did come out well, I must add. The bride was pleased:)
I did a bridesmaid bouquet and a flower girl’s flower basket arrangement as well. Don’t have the pictures yet, will post them when I do.
Till then, smelling the roses.
Fruit and Flower Basket for baby J December 21, 2006

Made this Fruit and Flower Basket for a new born baby and his mummy, quite some time back. Love the bright colours from the fruits and flowers. Makes a small hospital room cheery in an instant! Kept to a tri coloured theme for this one, even down to the fruits. Sorry for the shaky pictures, were taken on the cab, on my way to the hospital. Click on them to enlarge.
Till then, smelling the roses.

The Singapore Garden Festival’s just about started and I can’t wait to get down to the expo to have a look. The website seems to show some of the creative arrangements and I’d love to see how they combine different flowers together.Click here There was a floral design competition held, would have been a good opportunity to see how the local florists work their magic but could not make it there on Saturday. They seem to have a few interesting talks held everyday, but none that I fancy on the days that I can actually make it. Hopefully get to take pictures that I can upload!

So I’ve finally set up a blog for my floral arrangements! Am excited, can’t wait to put up pictures of the arrangements I’ve made and looking forward to making many more… Think I need to hone my photo taking skills, since my previous attempts at taking shots of stuff I made didn’t really do justice to the flowers. I need a good camera! Argh.
